13 Highlights From Stockholm Furniture Fair

February 27, 2018
There’s nothing like a blustery week in Stockholm to prove it’s best to make your furnishings emit as much coziness and well-being—or hygge, as Scandinavians like to call it—as possible. From February 6-10, the ethos of Scandinavian design raised its hand high at the Stockholm Furniture Fair—whether a product hailed from a Scandinavian country or not. From a boldly colored collection of outdoor chairs produced by university students, to a stool that works on your abs, here are our 13 favorite finds from the Stockholm Furniture Fair. Maja Johansson Starander looked to vintage textiles for her design of the linen and wool Gabrielle rug for Kasthall. Hand-woven in irregular vertical stripes with twisting and turning bouclés thanks to an innovative tufting technique, Gabrielle has a distinctive crisscross pattern, shown here in gold. Columns of ancient palaces inspired the Palais series, which includes a cabinet, dining table, and two lounge tables by Anya Sebton and Eva Lilja Löwenhielm for Asplund. Shown here is the Grand Palais cabinet, with a lacquered oak panel base and an oak veneered top. Photo courtesy of Asplund.
The Pax chair by Fredrik Mattson for Materia. Photo courtesy of Materia.
